Q: Will low voltage outdoor lighting increase the value of my home and property?

A: According to realestate.com, outdoor lighting can raise your property value by 12%! Just recently a homeowner had put their home on the market and a prospective buyer drove by and saw the outdoor lighting. They loved the way the house looked at night, submitted a offer on the house and moved in a few weeks later!

Q: Is low voltage outdoor lighting the solution to my property feeling secure at night?

A: A good outdoor lighting system is proven to increase home security by discouraging criminal behavior. If you can see your property at night, you will feel far more secure than if you can’t.

Q: Is there a difference in the lighting fixtures you install versus what I can buy at Home Depot or Lowes?

A: There is a HUGE difference! For example, the quality of the light fixture, the light source (halogen vs LED), the lighting effect, life of the system, life of the warranty and the look of the fixture in daylight. We design and install lighting systems with the highest grade fixtures and LEDs available on the market. Our LEDs will last over 10 years, instead of less than a year (which is how long most box store sets last, if you’re lucky).

Q: How do the lighting controls work?

A: The transformer (control panel) powers the system and will be set to a timer. The customer specifies when the lights come on and off, and we take care of the rest. We also offer advanced controls that can be operated from your smartphone.

Q: Why do we use LEDs?

A: LED light bulbs are increasing in popularity for good reason—the bulb last longer, are more durable and are more energy efficient than other bulbs available. On average, LED bulbs use at least 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and can last 25 times longer. So we prefer LEDs because they are the future of light technology and they provide the greatest quality for our clients.

Q: Are our outdoor lighting systems efficient?

A: Efficiency is an important concern. Since we use high-end LED lighting, our outdoor lighting systems are more efficient than ever before. LED bulbs consume 75% less energy than your traditional incandescent bulbs, which means your entire lighting system can consume much less. You’ll be surprised by how much energy the system DOESN’T consume.

Q: How invasive is burying the wire?

A: Our digging process for wire burial during residential lighting installations is very discreet. Unlike when digging for irrigation, we do precision digs that cause minimal to no disruption. After the wire is pushed into the ground, the ground is stitched back up. You won’t know we’ve even been there when we’re done.

Q: Is there an average number of lights needed for each installation?

A:  Each house is different and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Because your property is completely unique, your residential lighting installation will be curated specifically for your property’s needs. Every property is a blank canvas. Some properties may require more lights than others, but there is no standard or average amount of lights needed. Our pricing is per light, so our team will work with you to create a plan that accomplishes your goals and stays within your budget.

Q: Should I install lights on the second floor of my home or on the ground?

A: Your satisfaction is our highest priority, and although we are happy to install your lights on the second or higher floor, we generally recommend a ground placement. We recommend having lights placed on the ground shooting up as opposed to from the roof or higher story shooting down for a couple of reasons:

1. You don’t have to depend on someone to change a bulb if and when your bulbs burn out. If placed on a second or third floor, you will need a professional to do so.

2. When lights are placed higher up and shooting down, the hot spot is near the roof, so the eye is drawn somewhat unnaturally upward. When placed on the ground level shooting up, the hot spot is comfortably at eye level.

Q: How long should I keep my lights on for at a time? How much will it cost to run the lights all night?

A: We recommend leaving your residential lights on from dusk until dawn. Overnight lighting not only boosts security, but also casts your property in stunning light. You’re investing in a custom lighting display, so we always recommend you utilize it. Our bulbs are warrantied for a long time, so there is no risk of overuse. Running your display overnight is not cost-prohibitive either. The power usage is pennies per month when running a 12 volt LED system.
